Four men who were intercepted by police during a sting operation last night in Barataria are currently being interrogated by detectives attached to the North-Eastern Division (NED).
The suspects, ages 21, 22, 23 and 29, from Malick, Barataria and St James, were intercepted on board a silver Nissan Tiida along 7th Avenue, Malick, Barataria by officers of the NED Task Force.
During the interception, police allegedly found a Ruger Pistol fitted with a magazine containing seven rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.
According to police reports, at 8.10 pm on Saturday, NED police officers were on mobile patrol in the Barataria district when they were alerted to suspicious men in a vehicle in the area.
Police later intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search where they allegedly found the items on the floor of the vehicle.
The men were immediately detained.
Police subsequently secured search warrants and executed them at the homes of the suspects in the NED and Western Divisions.
During one of the operations at 7th Avenue, Malick, Barataria, police allegedly found a rectangular shaped package, wrapped in green plastic wrapping containing marijuana which later amounted to 531.8 grammes in a refrigerator in a bedroom of the house.
A further search resulted in one S&B 21 9x19 ammunition on a wooden TV stand located in the said bedroom.
