Four men who were in­ter­cept­ed by po­lice dur­ing a sting op­er­a­tion last night in Barataria are cur­rent­ly be­ing in­ter­ro­gat­ed by de­tec­tives at­tached to the North-East­ern Di­vi­sion (NED).

The sus­pects, ages 21, 22, 23 and 29, from Mal­ick, Barataria and St James, were in­ter­cept­ed on board a sil­ver Nis­san Ti­i­da along 7th Av­enue, Mal­ick, Barataria by of­fi­cers of the NED Task Force.

Dur­ing the in­ter­cep­tion, po­lice al­leged­ly found a Ruger Pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing sev­en rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at 8.10 pm on Sat­ur­day, NED po­lice of­fi­cers were on mo­bile pa­trol in the Barataria dis­trict when they were alert­ed to sus­pi­cious men in a ve­hi­cle in the area.

Po­lice lat­er in­ter­cept­ed the ve­hi­cle and con­duct­ed a search where they al­leged­ly found the items on the floor of the ve­hi­cle.

The men were im­me­di­ate­ly de­tained.

Po­lice sub­se­quent­ly se­cured search war­rants and ex­e­cut­ed them at the homes of the sus­pects in the NED and West­ern Di­vi­sions.

Dur­ing one of the op­er­a­tions at 7th Av­enue, Mal­ick, Barataria, po­lice al­leged­ly found a rec­tan­gu­lar shaped pack­age, wrapped in green plas­tic wrap­ping con­tain­ing mar­i­jua­na which lat­er amount­ed to 531.8 grammes in a re­frig­er­a­tor in a bed­room of the house.

A fur­ther search re­sult­ed in one S&B 21 9x19 am­mu­ni­tion on a wood­en TV stand lo­cat­ed in the said bed­room.
