Four sus­pects were ar­rest­ed this week dur­ing on­go­ing State of Emer­gency (SoE) op­er­a­tions across the coun­try.

Po­lice said in the South­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a late-night ex­er­cise from 11 pm on Au­gust 19 to 3 am on Au­gust 20, re­sult­ing in the ar­rest of a 22-year-old Gas­par­il­lo man and a 20-year-old Moru­ga man for firearm pos­ses­sion and am­mu­ni­tion. The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Si­mon, Supt Jaikaran, ASP Ram­saran, and In­sp Wilkin­son.

Mean­while, the In­ter-Agency Task Force car­ried out an af­ter­noon op­er­a­tion in Port-of-Spain be­tween 2 pm and 8 pm on Thurs­day.

Of­fi­cers seized sev­er­al pack­ages of cannabis, weigh­ing 1.5 kilo­grammes, from an aban­doned struc­ture in Bel­mont.

The ex­er­cise was led by ACP Hazel.

In the West­ern Di­vi­sion, Mar­aval Po­lice of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed a man on Thurs­day morn­ing be­tween 7 am and 8.30 am for pos­ses­sion of a white Nis­san Almera pre­vi­ous­ly re­port­ed stolen.

And, the North­ern Di­vi­sion’s Gang Unit and Task Force, Area South, con­duct­ed an in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise on Au­gust 18 from 1.30 am to 4.30 pm un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions 2025.

An Ari­ma man was al­so ap­pre­hend­ed for act­ing in a man­ner prej­u­di­cial to pub­lic safe­ty un­der Reg­u­la­tion 13(1).
