Free doubles offered at the Ato Boldon Stadium’s drive through vaccination site is one of the  factors that may have resulted in a decrease of people using the  vaccination facility offered by the Couva Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce (CPLCC) at the chamber’s  auditorium at Camden, Couva.

On Friday the  CPLCC teamed up with the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCIC) to inoculate persons with appointments. However according to Richie Sookhai, the president of the CCIC, persons are opting for the facilities at the Ato Boldon Stadium where doubles are also given to persons getting the jab Sookhai said the CPLCC facility at Camden would be used over the weekend and would stop on Monday if numbers don’t increase. He said the facility would resume operations only to administer the second doses. He said “Because of the various sites popping up there is a lot of dilution of resources, also there is a lot of options for individuals to go to other locations.”

Sookhai said  vaccine hesitancy is also  keeping back persons from taking the  jab. He urged employers to offer incentives to their workers to get vaccinated “This is the only way we can move forward to help open our economy. We can see where the power of doubles is to go to other locations.”  Sookhai said the drive through  facility is much easier for the disabled  and can reduce contact persons have with each other  .

Mukesh Ramsingh, the president of the CPLCC, said since the facility got running last Friday just over 4000 persons have been vaccinated.
