A 17-year-old girl is nursing a gunshot wound after she was shot while driving in San Juan early Monday morning.
Police said around 1.30 am, she was driving a Kia Cerato with her boyfriend along Charlo Lane off Laventille Road when they heard several gunshots.
The girl felt a burning sensation in her left hand, causing her to lose control of the car and collide with a parked vehicle.
The couple immediately exited the vehicle and ran to safety.
Emergency services were called, and the girl was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt. Hope, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
At the scene, police recovered four spent 5.56mm shells and several 9mm shells. Investigations are ongoing, led by PC Marshall.
