Member of Parliament for Mayaro, Nicholas Morris, has assured farmers, residents, and daily commuters along Begesse Trace and Riverside Road that the Government remains committed to fully rehabilitating the Poole Village landslip.
“When conditions worsened earlier this week, I joined Chairman of the Regional Corporation Raymond Cozier and Councillor David Law in a collaborative effort. Together, we engaged the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, the Honourable Khadijah Ameen, MP,” Morris said.
He said from the onset, all teams have worked in unison to address the issue. The minister and her ministry have coordinated closely with the Corporation and MP Morris to organise necessary works.
“The Minister has given her assurance of a speedy rectification of the problem. Engineers are developing the costing, scope of works, and other critical elements to ensure this project is delivered,” he said.
Morris added that the ministry, the Regional Corporation team, and his office understand the vital role this roadway plays for the community—and the serious consequences if it remains compromised.
“For these reasons, we are intensifying all efforts to restore access, safety, and mobility.”
