De­spite the tri­als of the pan­dem­ic, prin­ci­pals of Cedar Grove Pri­vate School, San Fer­nan­do TML Pri­ma­ry and Debe Hin­du School cel­e­brat­ed as they col­lect­ed ex­cep­tion­al 2021 Sec­ondary En­trance As­sess­ment (SEA) re­sults, to­day.

"Our re­sults were ex­cep­tion­al, even bet­ter than last year," Cedar Grove prin­ci­pal Sha­heed Al­la­ham told Guardian Me­dia, as stu­dents and par­ents came to the school at stag­gered in­ter­vals.

He said 22 pupils wrote the ex­am, 18 of whom passed for their first choice. Sev­en of these stu­dents passed for Na­pari­ma Girls High School; three for Na­pari­ma Col­lege; two for Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege; two for St Joseph’s Con­vent; and the oth­er stu­dents for Par­vati Girls High School; and one for La Ro­maine Gov­ern­ment Sec­ondary.

Al­la­ham praised the teach­ers and the par­ents for sup­port­ing the chil­dren, say­ing the pan­dem­ic had posed chal­lenges which stu­dents had suc­cess­ful­ly over­come.

At Debe Hin­du School, prin­ci­pal Usha Ram­per­sad-Gookool al­so cel­e­brat­ed, say­ing three stu­dents had se­cured 100 per­cent at the Math­e­mat­ics ex­ams. Most stu­dents had passed for their first choice.

Ram­per­sad-Gokool said it took the school one year to arrange de­vices for all stu­dents.

She al­so praised par­ents and teach­ers for their com­mit­ment.

And at San Fer­nan­do TML Pri­ma­ry School, prin­ci­pal Wahi­da Mo­hammed-Nar­ine said 66 pupils wrote the ex­am, 51 of whom passed for top schools in the city. She said the re­sults were bet­ter than last year.

Among those cel­e­brat­ing great re­sults were Stan­dard Three teacher In­dra Ma­hadeo and her son Sarvesh.

"We are elat­ed that he passed for his first choice," Ma­hadeo said.

And even though cel­e­bra­tions are ham­pered by the pan­dem­ic, par­ents said they will be re­ward­ing their chil­dren at home.
