A 29-year-old Siparia woman died on Mon­day night af­ter her car crashed off a bridge and plunged in­to the South Oropouche Riv­er in Debe.

Po­lice said Kalisa Dan­clair, a sales rep­re­sen­ta­tive at HAD­CO Ltd, died at the scene af­ter emer­gency re­spon­ders pulled her sil­ver Toy­ota Axio from the wa­ter.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port, Dan­clair was dri­ving south along Debe Trace when, near Ra­hamut Trace op­po­site the Lord Shi­va Mandir, her car hit a steel bar­ri­er on the west­ern side of the bridge. The im­pact de­stroyed about ten feet of rail­ing be­fore the ve­hi­cle plunged in­to the riv­er.

Fire Ser­vices, Hunters Search and Res­cue, and near­by res­i­dents helped re­cov­er Dan­clair’s body from the wreck.

Po­lice are still search­ing for her dri­ver’s per­mit and in­sur­ance cer­tifi­cate. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
