The Hunters Search and Res­cue group start­ed comb­ing parts of To­ba­go ear­ly on Sun­day in a bid to find miss­ing state wit­ness Ishamel Roberts, 24.

Roberts dis­ap­peared on Feb­ru­ary 28, 2024 while in Scar­bor­ough. Ishamel, a res­i­dent of Kel­ly Roselle Es­tate in Ply­mouth, was last seen at 10 am on that day. His dis­ap­pear­ance was of­fi­cial­ly re­port­ed to the Shir­van Road Po­lice Sta­tion on March 2, 2024.

Cap­tain Val­lence Ram­barat, head of the Hunters Search and Res­cue group, along with three mem­bers, ar­rived in To­ba­go on Sat­ur­day aboard the ATP James ves­sel. Ram­barat said he li­aised with of­fi­cers of the Shir­van Po­lice Sta­tion be­fore the team start­ed search­ing the nu­mer­ous cliffs at Ply­mouth Road. He said, "We find it very un­usu­al for a small is­land like To­ba­go for some­body to go miss­ing for this long. We agreed to come and as­sist, us­ing our skills to see if we can find some lead or some in­for­ma­tion which can guide us to find him. We are here for to­day and to­mor­row.

We have a search plan and we are work­ing with Cpl Charles of the Shir­van Road Po­lice Sta­tion and we are in touch with the An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Squad." Ram­barath said cloth­ing, scent and hu­man ac­tiv­i­ty are some of the things his group looks at.

The team ques­tioned sev­er­al in­di­vid­u­als and made in­quiries dur­ing their search.

Ishamel is of mixed de­scent, ap­prox­i­mate­ly five feet, four inch­es tall, with a slim build and light brown com­plex­ion. He is iden­ti­fi­able by his corn­row hair­style and a ‘Play­boy’ tat­too on the left side of his chest.
