The Hunters Search and Rescue group started combing parts of Tobago early on Sunday in a bid to find missing state witness Ishamel Roberts, 24.
Roberts disappeared on February 28, 2024 while in Scarborough. Ishamel, a resident of Kelly Roselle Estate in Plymouth, was last seen at 10 am on that day. His disappearance was officially reported to the Shirvan Road Police Station on March 2, 2024.
Captain Vallence Rambarat, head of the Hunters Search and Rescue group, along with three members, arrived in Tobago on Saturday aboard the ATP James vessel. Rambarat said he liaised with officers of the Shirvan Police Station before the team started searching the numerous cliffs at Plymouth Road. He said, "We find it very unusual for a small island like Tobago for somebody to go missing for this long. We agreed to come and assist, using our skills to see if we can find some lead or some information which can guide us to find him. We are here for today and tomorrow.
We have a search plan and we are working with Cpl Charles of the Shirvan Road Police Station and we are in touch with the Anti-Kidnapping Squad." Rambarath said clothing, scent and human activity are some of the things his group looks at.
The team questioned several individuals and made inquiries during their search.
Ishamel is of mixed descent, approximately five feet, four inches tall, with a slim build and light brown complexion. He is identifiable by his cornrow hairstyle and a ‘Playboy’ tattoo on the left side of his chest.
Ishmael was last seen wearing a white jersey, long blue jeans, and a brown hat. Anyone with information about Ishamel Roberts’ whereabouts should contact the Shirvan Police Station at 639-8888 or the anonymous hotline at 800-TIPS.
