Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar yes­ter­day apol­o­gised for the er­rors made by the Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress (UNC) when it held pow­er.

Speak­ing ahead of the par­ty’s 30th an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions to­day, which will fea­ture the launch of its lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tion cam­paign, Per­sad-Bisses­sar said while the UNC had an out­stand­ing per­for­mance dur­ing its five years in of­fice, er­rors were made. She said the par­ty has ac­knowl­edged its mis­takes and is now humbly say­ing sor­ry to the coun­try.

The UNC po­lit­i­cal leader said the par­ty is now fo­cused on fight­ing what she de­scribed as “the elit­ist Row­ley gov­ern­ment.” She added that the fight is not with rank and file PNM sup­port­ers.

The UNC’s an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions and cam­paign launch will take place in Cou­va.
