The Min­istry of Labour is prepar­ing to roll out its Job Va­can­cy Sur­vey for Pri­vate Sec­tor and State En­ter­pris­es across Trinidad and To­ba­go be­gin­ning on Thurs­day, Feb­ru­ary 9th 2023. This Job Va­can­cy Sur­vey is be­ing ad­min­is­tered through the MOL’s Labour Mar­ket In­for­ma­tion Unit (LMIU) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Kairi Con­sul­tants Lim­it­ed and will be used to de­vel­op tar­get­ed Gov­ern­ment Poli­cies to treat with ex­ist­ing Labour Mar­ket chal­lenges. 

The min­istry held its Stake­hold­er En­gage­ment fo­rum at the Trinidad Hilton Ho­tel and Con­fer­ence Cen­tre on Feb­ru­ary 1 ahead of the launch of this Sur­vey where close to 100 per­sons at­tend­ed both vir­tu­al­ly and in-per­son. The at­ten­dees in­clud­ed rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Em­ploy­er Or­gan­i­sa­tions, Trade Unions, State En­ter­pris­es, Gov­ern­ment Min­istries and De­part­ments and the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly. 

Min­is­ter of Labour, Stephen Mc Clashie, said, "Job seek­ers should know where the jobs are, the fu­ture de­mand for jobs and be guid­ed and sup­port­ed to join the labour force. Job cre­ators should know where they can get sup­port to at­tract the sup­ply of labour they need to pro­duce their goods and ser­vices. En­tre­pre­neurs and in­vestors should know that they are sup­port­ed in the lo­cal busi­ness en­vi­ron­ment to re­ceive the nec­es­sary skills and ex­per­tise to start and trans­form their busi­ness­es. The Min­istry of Labour’s goal is to work fer­vent­ly to en­sure that the labour mar­ket in­for­ma­tion for Trinidad and To­ba­go is avail­able to guide the de­vel­op­ment of poli­cies and pro­grammes to sup­port the labour mar­ket eco-sys­tem."
