Resh­ma Ra­goonath

Se­nior mag­is­trate Maria Bus­by Ear­le-Cad­dle is the new pres­i­dent of the Mag­is­trates As­so­ci­a­tion. Ear­le-Cad­dle was elect­ed un­op­posed Thurs­day af­ter­noon at the as­so­ci­a­tion's ex­ec­u­tive elec­tions at the Ch­agua­nas Mag­is­trates' Court.

She re­placed in­ter­im pres­i­dent Mar­cia Mur­ray who was ap­point­ed to the post af­ter mag­is­trate Ram­raj Har­riper­sad va­cat­ed the po­si­tion to of­fer him­self on a Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress tick­et in the last gen­er­al elec­tion. San Fer­nan­do mag­is­trate Ra­jen­dra Ram­bachan was elect­ed vice pres­i­dent while mag­is­trate Nizam Khan was elect­ed as­sis­tant sec­re­tary/trea­sur­er. They al­so were un­op­posed.

Twelve mem­bers at­tend­ed Thurs­day's meet­ing. Mag­is­trates Lisa Rams­mair-Hinds and Hal­cy­on Yorke-Young were re­tained as sec­re­tary and trea­sur­er re­spec­tive­ly. Mag­is­trates Ava­son Quin­lan, Siu­mon­gal Ram­saran, Adri­an Dar­manie and Cheron Raphael were named or­di­nary mem­bers.
