Senior magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle is the new president of the Magistrates Association. Earle-Caddle was elected unopposed Thursday afternoon at the association's executive elections at the Chaguanas Magistrates' Court.
She replaced interim president Marcia Murray who was appointed to the post after magistrate Ramraj Harripersad vacated the position to offer himself on a United National Congress ticket in the last general election. San Fernando magistrate Rajendra Rambachan was elected vice president while magistrate Nizam Khan was elected assistant secretary/treasurer. They also were unopposed.
Twelve members attended Thursday's meeting. Magistrates Lisa Ramsmair-Hinds and Halcyon Yorke-Young were retained as secretary and treasurer respectively. Magistrates Avason Quinlan, Siumongal Ramsaran, Adrian Darmanie and Cheron Raphael were named ordinary members.
