A 28-year-old man is nursing serious injuries after he was repeatedly chopped during a violent altercation with a male relative at his Moruga home on Wednesday morning.
Police said Gabriel Diaz of St Mary’s Village was in the kitchen around 11.30 am on Wednesday when he became involved in a heated argument with a relative, who lives in the same community.
The dispute escalated when the assailant allegedly armed himself with a cutlass and delivered several blows to Diaz’s body. Diaz was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility, where he was treated for multiple chop wounds. Medical reports indicate he sustained a deep laceration to the left frontal scalp measuring approximately 10 to 12 centimetres, extending to the bone, along with a serious wound to the right hand.
Officers, led by PC McMeo, are continuing investigations. A team of officers also visited the scene, recorded statements and interviewed residents. Police said the suspect remains at large.
