A shoot­ing in Cara­po late on Wednes­day night led to the death of a 24-year-old man and the wound­ing of an­oth­er.

Po­lice said Akeel Charles hired a taxi in El So­cor­ro at around 11.25 pm and asked to be tak­en to Cara­po and back.

The taxi dri­ver agreed and while dri­ving on the Cara­po Main Road, saw a white Nis­san B14 dri­ve near his own car.

Gun­men in the B14 shot at him and Charles hit­ting them both. Charles died on the spot.

The dri­ver drove to the Mt Hope Hos­pi­tal where Charles was de­clared dead.

At­tend­ing doc­tors called the po­lice who vis­it­ed the hos­pi­tal and saw the taxi dri­ver's car with gun­shot holes to the wind­screen, front bon­net, front fend­er, dri­ver's side door and back door.

Po­lice from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion II are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
