Relatives of 19-year-old Justin Dean, whose body was discovered in a bamboo patch off the southbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Freeport yesterday, believe he may have been a victim of foul play.
The body was found around 12.30 pm near Nelson Road by his brother.
Dean, who was a resident of Nelson Road, had crossed both the north and southbound lanes of the highway to lime at a nearby bar.
Relatives said they became worried when he did not return home. Shanell Dean said her husband, who is the brother of the deceased, went with his parents to the Freeport Police Station on Sunday night to make a report when Justin did not return. She said the family spent two hours in the station before the police took a statement.
She said she and Brandon went in search of Justin and also asked people for CCTV footage. They then went to the Highway Roti Shop to seek video that might lead them to find the missing youth.
She said yesterday they were searching nearby drains when Brandon discovered the body.
Shanell said the body was found with both legs bent backwards and blood oozing from the groin area. She said it didn’t appear that he was hit by a vehicle but that the body was placed there.
Shanell said, “He used to come back home, he didn’t interfere with people, we don’t know what it is to say.”
Freeport police are investigating.
