A sus­pect who re­port­ed­ly shot at po­lice as he at­tempt­ed to elude cap­ture on Tues­day in Ari­ma re­mains hos­pi­talised to­day.

The sus­pect of no fixed place of ad­dress was walk­ing along Hoyte Av­enue around 1 pm on June 6, when he saw of­fi­cers from the Ari­ma Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice on pa­trol and be­gan run­ning.

As the law­men or­dered him to stop, he jumped in­to a near­by drain and was lat­er spot­ted walk­ing in the vicin­i­ty of Mt Zion.

The of­fi­cers urged the sus­pect to sur­ren­der but as he ran through a yard at Sam­my Hill, the of­fi­cers al­leged he point­ed a gun at them.

One of the of­fi­cers dis­charged his ser­vice pis­tol in the sus­pect’s di­rec­tion but he con­tin­ued run­ning, be­fore point­ing the gun at the of­fi­cers a sec­ond time.

The of­fi­cer in pur­suit again fired his ser­vice pis­tol at the sus­pect who fell to the ground.

The sus­pect was lat­er tak­en to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed, be­fore be­ing tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope – where he was ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Of­fi­cers re­port­ed­ly re­cov­ered one Glock pis­tol along with a mag­a­zine tube on the sus­pect, along with his bag which al­leged­ly con­tained eight rounds of 40 mm am­mu­ni­tion; six rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion; two black knives; 126 grams of mar­i­jua­na; 31 grams of co­caine; and one scale.
