Of­fi­cers from a spe­cialised unit of the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice yes­ter­day shot and killed a man who was out on bail for mur­der.

Re­ports said act­ing un­der State of Emer­gency pow­ers, of­fi­cers went to a house at Ram­per­sad Trace, Ve­ga de Oropouche, San­gre Grande, fol­low­ing in­for­ma­tion re­ceived about firearms there.

Po­lice said up­on ar­rival, the oc­cu­pant opened fire on them and of­fi­cers re­turned fire. The man was shot dur­ing the ex­change.

He was lat­er iden­ti­fied as David “Sours” Boodoo. Boodoo was tak­en to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead by med­ical per­son­nel.

Po­lice said a firearm was re­cov­ered at the scene.

Boodoo was re­port­ed­ly on bail for a pend­ing mur­der charge.
