The Patriotic Front political leader, Mickela Panday, will open nominations tomorrow to potential candidates to contest the 41 constituencies in the 2025 general election.

Panday made the announcement last evening on the 91st birthday anniversary of her father, the late prime minister Basdeo Panday, during a function to remember and pay tribute to him at Twins Wall Compound, La Romain.

Advising that nomination forms could be found on the party’s website, the former Oropouche West MP and attorney said, “We seek candidates who will listen to the people, who will be a true voice for their constituents in the halls of power. If you believe in our values and are passionate about serving your constituency, we encourage you to step forward.” She explained that winning candidates would be chosen by the constituents of the respective constituencies.

Panday also made an open call to those interested in being a member of the party or volunteering. “There is a place for everyone in the home of The Patriotic Front. Let your voice be heard, and let us write a new chapter in our nation’s story together.”

The party was formed in 2020 to contest the general elections but bowed out of the race owing to insufficient time to mobilise themselves before the August 10 election.
