Trinidad and To­ba­go-born Unit­ed States-based rap­per Nic­ki Mi­naj, whose re­al name is Oni­ka Maraj, has pledged fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance to those af­fect­ed by re­cent flood­ing in this coun­try and is work­ing with lo­cal so­ca star Fay-Ann Lyons-Al­varez to achieve her goal.

"Trinidad, I am work­ing on get­ting many dif­fer­ent re­sources to you now. Fay-Ann & I have been com­mu­ni­cat­ing non-stop. I will let you know ex­act­ly who I’m do­nat­ing the funds to & hope to be with you very soon. I Love you. We will get through this," Mi­naj tweet­ed on so­cial me­dia yes­ter­day.

Mi­naj lat­er post­ed a pho­to of her­self dressed in bathing suit-in­spired out­fit in the red, white and black colours of the Trinidad and To­ba­go flag.

Mi­naj, who was born in St James, has been us­ing her so­cial me­dia pres­ence to high­light the flood­ing sit­u­a­tion here.

Ear­li­er this week, she re­post­ed a pic­ture from so­ca artiste Ian "Bun­ji Gar­lin" Al­varez show­ing the flood­ing.

"Some parts in Trinidad are ok but a large num­ber of ar­eas look like this and worse and peo­ple have lost every­thing they pos­sess," she post­ed then

"Peo­ple are now out in droves giv­ing all the as­sis­tance they can to who needs it. In the dis­as­ter the bless­ing of to­geth­er­ness stands so strong in this mo­ment here in Trinidad and To­ba­go every­one is lend­ing a hand even those who have noth­ing left," she wrote.

Mi­naj said there are a lot of peo­ple will­ing to as­sist from over­seas.

"There are a lot of peo­ple from abroad ask­ing about as­sist­ing, but they haven't seen any in­fo on how to do so, so we will gath­er what in­fo we can and put it in a next post. Thanks for all the prayers and we jour­ney through this time," Mi­naj wrote.

Lyons-Al­varez al­so took to In­sta­gram to thank Mi­naj for her as­sis­tance.
