The Ministry of social development says it's working closely with its key disaster stakeholders including the first responders, the ODPM and the Ministry of Local Government to assess reported cases of damage to homes following the September 28 adverse weather event. The Ministry says eight families have been impacted. Counselling support has been offered as well.
The Ministry also deployed a team of two officers to visit the region and engage the families directly and discuss the various grants that they may access due to the disaster namely, the Rental Assistance Grant, Household Items Grant, School Supplies Grant, Clothing Grant, Minor House Repair Grant, Sanitary Plumbing Grant and House Wiring Assistance Grant. No food support was required.
According to the Ministry:
-7 households had their roof blown off including 1 property which was insured;
-Out of the 7 households, 4 of them had damages to household items in addition to the roof damage.
