Three fish­er­men who were re­port­ed miss­ing four days ago have been found. Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease from Mem­ber for Cou­va North Ravi Rati­ram the fish­er­men were found adrift at sea by their fel­low fish­er­men around 1:30pm to­day.

Three Or­ange Val­ley fish­er­men who went miss­ing four days ago were res­cued this evening by their fel­low fish­er­men and have since been re­unit­ed with their fam­i­lies.

Luis Manuel Yirvin, his cousin Gilbert Je­sus Mi­lan Men­doza and their cap­tain En­der Emil, left Or­ange Val­ley aboard the TF­CA fish­ing ves­sel Si­mon Pe­ter owned by Mr. Richard Men­doza ear­ly on the morn­ing of De­cem­ber 27, 2021 to fish in the Grand Bo­ca. When they did not re­turn, an alarm was raised and the mat­ter was re­port­ed to the au­thor­i­ties, who be­gan search and res­cue ef­forts some­time there­after.

Al­so join­ing the search were fel­low fish­er­men who par­tic­i­pat­ed vol­un­tar­i­ly, at their own ex­pense. At around 1:30pm to­day, fish­er­men aboard a fish­ing trawler from Or­ange Val­ley dis­cov­ered the three fish­er­men, who stat­ed that they went adrift at sea af­ter ex­pe­ri­enc­ing en­gine dif­fi­cul­ty.

Dur­ing their four-day or­deal, the fish­er­men sur­vived by catch­ing and roast­ing fish in their ves­sel. Soon af­ter be­ing res­cued, the trio were brought on­shore and de­liv­ered safe­ly to their re­spec­tive fam­i­lies. Spe­cial thanks goes out to all those who par­tic­i­pat­ed in the search and res­cue ef­forts over the past four days, re­sult­ing in the safe re­turn of the fish­er­men.
