Al­most two days af­ter sis­ters Keyana Mar­tin, 14, and Kiara An­drews, four, were re­port­ed miss­ing from the San Juan home of a rel­a­tive, fam­i­ly mem­bers con­firmed they were found safe­ly on Tues­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the sis­ters were at their aunt’s Up­per Bushe Street, Maitagual, home on Sun­day af­ter­noon when they left to go to a near­by par­lour.

The sis­ters did not re­turn.

The girls’ moth­er, Nav­ern Habib, and aunt made a re­port at the San Juan po­lice sta­tion that af­ter­noon, prompt­ing search­es from the po­lice and mem­bers of the Hunters Search and Res­cue Team.

Guardian Me­dia Ltd vis­it­ed the fam­i­ly’s home in La Hor­quet­ta home yes­ter­day for an up­date on the girls’ dis­ap­pear­ance, but were told they had been found ear­li­er that morn­ing.

Habib said she was hap­py that her daugh­ters were re­unit­ed with her, adding that she and oth­er rel­a­tives were very con­cerned over their well-be­ing since their dis­ap­pear­ance.

She said, “I’m very re­lieved and very hap­py to have them back. When this hap­pened, I couldn’t even hold my phone prop­er­ly be­cause it’s not a nice feel­ing. I know my child wouldn’t put her­self in dan­ger. That was the small com­fort I had in all this.”

Al­so at the home was the girls’ aunt, Alexan­dra Mar­tin, who vis­it­ed her nieces af­ter hear­ing about their safe re­turn home.

Mar­tin said the girls left her San Juan home on Sun­day af­ter­noon with their cousins.

She said while the girls’ cousins re­turned, her sus­pi­cions were aroused when Keyana and Kiara did not re­turn as well.

“They (the cousins) told me they were down the road and that was all they knew.

“Af­ter about 15 to 20 min­utes I re­alised they didn’t come back. I walked down the road and asked some peo­ple in the area but they didn’t see them ei­ther.

Al­so vis­it­ing the home was the com­man­der of the Hunters Search and Res­cue Team, Sham­sudeen Ayube, who tried search­ing for the girls in San Juan since their dis­ap­pear­ance was re­port­ed.

Ayube said he was hap­py the girls were found un­harmed and urged chil­dren to in­form rel­a­tives of their where­abouts when­ev­er leav­ing their homes.
