Members of the Ministry’s Division of Ageing and Corporate Communications and Education Unit were present to celebrate with the family.
During the brief event, Mrs. Moore was honoured as part of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services’ National Centenarian Programme where citizens 100 years and over are honoured and recognized for their contributions to the development of Trinidad and Tobago. “I learnt all my life skills in the Tacarigua Orphanage and I thank God for everything I can do. I could make the best tamarind balls and ice-cream. Everything. Up to this day, I am still making it.” Mrs Moore also stated that despite her age, she loves to sing, dance, play cards and read the newspaper and Bible every day.
Her Worship, The Mayor of Point Fortin, Alderman Saleema Thomas wished Mrs. Moore continued health and strength on behalf of all the people of Point Fortin.
Mrs. Moore was the owner of a parlour for over twenty years, selling pholourie, candies and fudge to the majority of school children in Point Fortin.
