One suspect has been arrested and two firearms, ammunition, and cannabis were seized during a series of coordinated anti-crime operations conducted yesterday.
In the Central Division, Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) officers carried out an exercise between 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the Enterprise district.
During a search at Chrissie Terrance, they discovered two bulletproof vests, approximately 4.1 kilogrammes of cannabis, and 15 rounds of ammunition.
In the Port-of-Spain district, a search at the Duncan Street Plannings led to the discovery of a revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition, along with a quantity of cannabis. An additional nine rounds of 7.62mm and 9mm ammunition were also recovered.
In another exercise, officers of the Task Force Areas North and South carried out an operation in La Horquetta between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. During the exercise, they searched an unoccupied parcel of land in Phase 7 and uncovered a quantity of cannabis.
Later, the same officers stopped a Nissan X-Trail. A search of the vehicle revealed one Beretta pistol fitted with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition. The 35-year-old male driver was arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
