PDRC being sanitised as employee tests COVID-19 positive

The Pe­nal Debe Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (PDRC) is now closed to mem­bers of the pub­lic af­ter a staff mem­ber test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19. 

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that spray­ing of the build­ing and cor­po­ra­tion ve­hi­cles was un­der­tak­en this morn­ing.

Chair­man Dr Allen Sam­my said the em­ploy­ee was in the Cor­po­ra­tion’s of­fices up to Fri­day.  He said san­i­ta­tion be­gan on Wednes­day af­ter they re­ceived word that the em­ploy­ee had test­ed pos­i­tive for the coro­n­avirus.

Dr Sam­my said over the week­end, a mu­nic­i­pal of­fi­cer at­tached to the sub-of­fi­cer near the mar­ket al­so test­ed pos­i­tive. He said no oth­er em­ploy­ees have been put in­to quar­an­tine at this time.

In an of­fi­cial no­tice, PDRC CEO Bet­ty Ram­dass-Ali in­formed the pub­lic that com­menc­ing Thurs­day 15 April 2021, and for the next three weeks, they should avoid com­ing to the of­fice in light of the pan­dem­ic.  In­stead, she ad­vised mem­bers of the pub­lic to utilise the PDRC’s tele­phone con­tact num­bers, email, Face­book page and web­site to make in­quiries, com­plaints or com­mu­ni­cate to ac­cess their ser­vices.

"If it does be­come nec­es­sary to vis­it the cor­po­ra­tion, all per­sons will be re­quired to ob­serve our pub­lic health pro­to­cols on en­try such as tem­per­a­ture test­ing, hand sani­tis­ing and wash­ing sta­tion and wear­ing of masks,” Ram­dass-Ali ad­vised.

“Out of an abun­dance of cau­tion and in or­der to pro­tect our staff and oth­ers, per­sons dis­play­ing symp­toms of COVID 19 will be re­quired to im­me­di­ate­ly demit the cor­po­ra­tion while we call the Min­istry of Health hot­line on your be­half, if you so re­quire," she added.

The PDRC CEO re­mind­ed the pub­lic to take all nec­es­sary pre­ven­ta­tive mea­sures and reg­u­la­tions, as ad­vised by the Health Min­istry, to mit­i­gate the spread of the virus.
