The Pro­gres­sive Em­pow­er­ment Par­ty (PEP) has ap­point­ed Lim­ma McLeod Wilkin­son as its new in­ter­im Po­lit­i­cal Leader.

In a state­ment, the PEP said it is pleased to an­nounce a sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­ment in its lead­er­ship struc­ture.

It said af­ter ex­ten­sive de­lib­er­a­tion, the Deputy Po­lit­i­cal Lead­ers ex­pressed their “ heart­felt ap­pre­ci­a­tion to Phillip Ed­ward Alexan­der for his ded­i­cat­ed fight against cor­rup­tion and in­jus­tice in Trinidad and To­ba­go, as well as his role in in­spir­ing as­pir­ing politi­cians to be­come bet­ter lead­ers.”

It said with mixed emo­tions, they ac­knowl­edge and ac­cept Alexan­der's res­ig­na­tion and wished him the best in his fu­ture en­deav­ours.

The PEP added that up­on care­ful con­sid­er­a­tion, they have ap­point­ed Lim­ma McLeod Wilkin­son as the In­ter­im Po­lit­i­cal Leader, ef­fec­tive im­me­di­ate­ly. She will be sup­port­ed by Ak­il Camps and Maris­sa Per­sad-Par­boo as her Deputy Po­lit­i­cal Lead­ers.

“Si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly, we are in the process of sanc­tion­ing a draft in­ter­im Con­sti­tu­tion and ini­ti­at­ing the re­struc­tur­ing of the par­ty, a metic­u­lous pro­ce­dure ex­pect­ed to con­clude with­in the next few months.”
