A 45-year-old PH taxi driver has been granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with a surety after he was charged with two counts of sexual touching. He appeared before Magistrate Armina Mohammed Deonarinesingh, at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
As part of the bail condition, the accused must have no communication with the victim, a 15-year-old girl, or her family. He must not be within 20 feet of the victim, and he is to report to a police station three times each week.
The accused is expected to reappear in court on March 13. According to police reports, the alleged incidents of sexual touching occurred on two occasions in June 2022. The victim reported the incident to the Child Protection Unit in the Southern Division.
After investigations, a 45-year-old man was arrested on February 10, and subsequently charged on February 12 with two counts of sexual touching.
