PNM stalwart Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ferreira has died.
Ferreira, regarded as one of the party’s most enduring voices and a well-known political commentator, was remembered today by Port of Spain North, St Ann’s West MP Stuart Young, who described him as “a PNM giant and a patriot”.
In a social media post, Young said Ferreira, fondly known as “Ferdie”, was “a fountain of knowledge and history”. He thanked Ferreira for “all that you contributed to the development of our country and the PNM”.
Young added, “May your soul rest in eternal peace. To Ferdie’s family and friends may God grant you strength and comfort.”
Ferreira was widely known for his long association with the PNM and for his commentary on the country’s political landscape, drawing on decades of involvement in national affairs.
