Point Fortin man shot dead

Hours af­ter telling his moth­er he was go­ing to lime with friends, De­shawn Corn­wall was shot dead in Point Fortin Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Corn­wall, of South­ern Main Road, Cochrane, died from mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds af­ter be­ing at­tacked near Chin Kit Park around 4 am.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors re­port­ed that around 2 am, Corn­wall said he go­ing to lime in Point Fortin with his broth­er and oth­er friends. While stand­ing at Chin Kit Park, an un­known gun­man fired sev­er­al shots, hit­ting Corn­wall sev­er­al times.

He was rushed to the Point Fortin Area Hos­pi­tal, where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

A wit­ness said he was stand­ing near the taxi stand when he heard the gun­fire and saw Corn­wall on the floor Main­field Road, Point Fortin. The wit­ness put Corn­wall in his car and took him to the Point Fortin Hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice re­trieved 17 spent 9mm shells from the crime scene. The sil­ver Wingroad was a rent­ed ve­hi­cle.

When Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed Vespry’s home, his moth­er was too dis­traught to speak.
