Ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed be­tween Thurs­day 15 and Fri­day 16 June, in the Cen­tral and South­ern Di­vi­sions re­sult­ed in eight ar­rests and the seizure of two firearms and 42 mar­i­jua­na plants.

One home­made shot­gun and one Beretta pis­tol fit­ted with one mag­a­zine and 15 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion were al­leged­ly found dur­ing the ex­e­cu­tion of a search war­rant at a home on Lime Fruit Road in Freeport.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS, a 43-year-old male oc­cu­pant of the res­i­dence was ar­rest­ed for Traf­fick­ing Firearms.

Po­lice say dur­ing the ex­er­cise, a 28-year-old man from Chase Vil­lage was al­so ar­rest­ed in re­la­tion to a re­port of Rob­bery with Ag­gra­va­tion.

Cen­tral Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed a 32-year-old man from Long­denville for As­sault Oc­ca­sion­ing a Wound and As­sault by Beat­ing dur­ing a sim­i­lar ex­er­cise con­duct­ed the pre­vi­ous day in the Long­denville dis­trict.

Mean­while, the TTPS says the South­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Gang Unit and the Guard and Emer­gency Branch – South, adopt­ing a ze­ro-tol­er­ance ap­proach, ar­rest­ed a 40-year-old La Ro­main man for Cul­ti­vat­ing Cannabis.

The "in­tel­li­gence-led" ex­er­cise which took place be­tween 2 am and 6 am yes­ter­day, re­sult­ed in the seizure of 42 mar­i­jua­na plants with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of TT$120,000 along with a sum of US and TT cur­ren­cy.

Po­lice say three men were al­so ar­rest­ed for drug-re­lat­ed of­fences dur­ing a sep­a­rate an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed be­tween 7 pm and 12 am yes­ter­day in the Di­vi­sion.

A 31-year-old man from San Fer­nan­do was ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing the ex­er­cise as well.
