Police search for officer accused of raping teen relative

A po­lice of­fi­cer who al­leged­ly con­fessed to sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ing a fe­male rel­a­tive, who is a mi­nor, is be­ing sought by his col­leagues in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.

On Ju­ly 11, a 15-year-old girl re­port­ed to the Child Pro­tec­tion Unit of the North­ern Di­vi­sion that a male rel­a­tive had sex­u­al in­ter­course with her on sev­er­al oc­ca­sions at his house in east Trinidad.

The most re­cent in­ci­dent is said to have tak­en place on Ju­ly 4.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cer was con­front­ed by the girl’s moth­er and he ad­mit­ted to hav­ing sex with the child. 

Po­lice added that the of­fi­cer al­leged­ly threat­ened to harm him­self, say­ing he was not go­ing to jail.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the of­fi­cer al­leged­ly packed some of his be­long­ings and left the area.

His firearm was al­so said to be miss­ing.

Po­lice of­fi­cers are search­ing for the man.
