A police sergeant and his family escaped unharmed following a shooting incident at his Chaguanas home last night, a statement by the Police Service said.
The officer, who was off-duty at the time, was at his home at 10:40 pm on Sunday, when he was alerted to screams emanating from the second floor of the house, which was occupied by his brother.
Upon checking, the sergeant observed two men; one armed with a gun standing in the yard.
The gunman then pointed the firearm in the direction of the officer after which several loud explosions were heard.
The officer returned fire at the suspects with his TTPS-issued pistol.
The assailants, however, managed to jump over a wall and escape in a silver coloured motor-vehicle.
Police are at this time searching for the two suspects.
