The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is reminding members of the public to be cautious of false information sent via social media, which can cause unnecessary panic and anxiety.
In a statement yesterday the Police Service issued one such example of false news.

Here are some facts relating to this case:
Fact 1:
There are no new communication “regulations” that allow for illegal monitoring of social media in contravention of the Interception of Communications Act Chapter 15:08.
Fact 2:
The Police Service has not put out any related notification or advisory in relation to the above material.
The police Service is advising citizens to refrain from sharing misleading information which it said can cause anxiety. Members of the public are advised to check and stay updated with TTPS Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for accurate information on matters relating to crime and policing
