Despite rumors that a seventh prisoner has been recaptured, Prisons Commissioner Gerard Wilson has confirmed to Guardian Media that only six escapees are in custody.
The Commissioner explained that the six men who were recaptured in Las Lomas, hours after escaping Remand Prison, are currently assisting police with investigations into the escape.
He remains hopeful that the information provided will lead police to Olatungi Denbow and Michael Findley.
The men were part of a group of eight who escaped from Remand Prison during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Commissioner Wilson said he had received a preliminary report and will now appoint a senior official to head an inquiry to determine culpability.
Wilson was speaking at the recommissioning ceremony of the Prisons Sports and Recreational Club In Arouca.
He said the newly renovated facility will allow for upgraded services for the welfare of officers.
