Top executives at Proman have told Government that the company intends to enhance its output of petrochemicals and partner with the current administration to realise this country’s ambition to maintain its position as the energy hub of the Caribbean.
Proman’s top executives met recently (June 23, 2025) with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, along with Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal, and Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Ernesto Kesar, at the Office of the Parliament, Port-of-Spain.
The Proman Executive Team was led by David Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer Proman AG, and included Anand Ragbir, Managing Director, Proman Trinidad and Giselle Thompson, Deputy Managing Director, Proman Trinidad.
During the meeting, discussions focused on Proman’s commitment to pursuing further investment in both the upstream and downstream energy sectors.
David Cassidy shared Proman's long history in Trinidad and Tobago and the company's commitment to continued investment in its operations and its people.
He and the other executives told the PM and the energy ministers that notwithstanding challenges of gas curtailments, geopolitical risks and volatile global markets, Proman will b leveraging “its entrepreneurial spirit” to advance opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago.
The company’s executive team highlighted Proman’s aim of partnering with the Government to advance opportunities that will support its vision of Trinidad and Tobago's re-emergence as the energy hub of the region.
The Proman Executive Team also committed to discussing in detail with the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries specific initiatives to advance new, near-term projects and enhancing current output of petrochemical products.
The Ministry reports that Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar and Energy Ministers Moonilal and Kesar committed to working with Proman and other industry partners to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago “continues to attract and accelerate investment in support of national energy goals and economic growth”, and as Government “forges ahead with implementing strategies to revitalize the local energy sector.”
