A watch­man has died af­ter plung­ing 1,000 feet down a precipice in a trac­tor at his job site in Guaracara on Thurs­day.

Moti­lal Ram­nath, 62, was em­ployed at H Dook­er­an Quar­ry lo­cat­ed at 4 Guaracara Quar­ry Road, Williamsville.

Re­ports in­di­cate that his em­ploy­er gave him per­mis­sion to op­er­ate a trac­tor to clear an area of yel­low lime­stone on the east­ern side of the quar­ry.

Ram­nath start­ed around 9 am, but five hours lat­er an­oth­er work­er, Ricky Ram­paul, a me­chan­ic, ob­served sev­er­al trees smashed and track­er tracks lead­ing down a precipice. He did not see the trac­tor.

The Princes Town Fire Sta­tion was con­tact­ed and a team of of­fi­cers led by Ag. Fire Sub-of­fi­cer Mo­hammed re­spond­ed. They dis­cov­ered the trac­tor down a 1,000-foot precipice with Ram­nath in the cab.
