Rajaee Ali has been formally charged with possession of prohibited items following the discovery of contraband at the Golden Grove Prison last month.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service confirmed today that Ali was charged with possession of prohibited articles, in breach of Section 8(1)(f) of the Prison Service Act Chapter 13:01, as amended by Act 25 of 2019.
The charge stems from an incident on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, when Ali was allegedly found with a Samsung cellular phone, an unbranded SIM card, and a phone charger—items classified as prohibited without the express permission of the Commissioner of Prisons.
Ali, who is currently detained at another facility, was charged between 11 am and 12.30 pm today by officers of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
The investigation was ordered by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro and led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin. It was supervised by Snr Supt Edwards, Supt Morales, and ASP Lynch, along with senior officers of the SIU.
The TTPS said it remains committed to preserving the integrity of correctional institutions and enforcing accountability for any breach of prison security protocols.
