The relatives of two men who were shot and killed during a shoot-out with police at a Cunupia Church are expected to appear before a magistrate today to face charges of gun and ammunition possession.
Police said that the 51-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy were jointly charged with the possession of a firearm and ammunition over the weekend and were taken to court yesterday; however, the matter was postponed.
The two are relatives of father and son, Alvin Bharath and Arvind Bharath, who were killed by police at the Community Bible Church, Persad Avenue, Cunupia, last Thursday.
Police said a revolver and a pistol were found on both father and son, while another pistol was found on the second floor of the Church.
When contacted for comment last Thursday, Pastor Bickram Singh confirmed that a room of the church was being rented by a family.
Police said the elder Bharath was implicated in at least 16 reports of extortion, mainly in the Central Division.
