The rel­a­tives of two men who were shot and killed dur­ing a shoot-out with po­lice at a Cunu­pia Church are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a mag­is­trate to­day to face charges of gun and am­mu­ni­tion pos­ses­sion.

Po­lice said that the 51-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy were joint­ly charged with the pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion over the week­end and were tak­en to court yes­ter­day; how­ev­er, the mat­ter was post­poned.

The two are rel­a­tives of fa­ther and son, Alvin Bharath and Arvind Bharath, who were killed by po­lice at the Com­mu­ni­ty Bible Church, Per­sad Av­enue, Cunu­pia, last Thurs­day.

Po­lice said a re­volver and a pis­tol were found on both fa­ther and son, while an­oth­er pis­tol was found on the sec­ond floor of the Church.

When con­tact­ed for com­ment last Thurs­day, Pas­tor Bick­ram Singh con­firmed that a room of the church was be­ing rent­ed by a fam­i­ly.

Po­lice said the el­der Bharath was im­pli­cat­ed in at least 16 re­ports of ex­tor­tion, main­ly in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion.
