The Rotary Club of Princes Town has announced the official chartering of the Rotaract Club of Princes Town on October 11, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to youth development, leadership, community service, environmental sustainability, and professional growth in the region.
The charter ceremony, held at the Rotary Club’s meeting venue, fondly referred to as the “Rotary Home”, located at the residence of past president and charter member Jamir Ousman and his partner in service, Tara Ousman, brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, and family members for a memorable evening of celebration and inspiration.
In her remarks, president Crystal Ann Harper described the moment as a “full-circle achievement”, symbolising renewal, growth, and continuity of Rotary’s mission. She highlighted the significance of hosting the event at the very location where the Rotary Club of Princes Town first began.
“We did not sponsor this club to check a box for District 7030 nor Rotary International citation. We did it to expand our impact, create opportunities for youth leadership, and strengthen the bridge between Rotary and the next generation of service leaders,” Harper said.
The newly chartered Rotaract Club of Princes Town begins its journey under the leadership of charter president Avinash Ramlochan, supported by a dedicated team of young professionals and changemakers.
Adding to the evening’s inspiration, featured guest speaker Charter member and past president Jamir Ousman, reflected on the evolution of Rotary’s mission. He described Rotaract as “the bridge that connects youthful enthusiasm with experienced mentorship, a platform where ideas are shaped into action, and action transforms into meaningful impact.” Ousman encouraged the new Rotaractors to “serve with humility, lead with integrity, and give with open hearts.”
Director of Rotary Foundation Ms Oosha Jagdin emphasised that Rotaract represents Rotary’s arm for young adults ready to serve while developing personally and professionally. She reminded members that they are now part of a global network and encouraged collaboration, friendship, and mentorship through service.
“Rotaract is not just a youth group,” she noted. “It is a leadership platform that demands consistency, accountability, and a deep respect for Rotary’s core values.”
The event also featured congratulatory messages from District Governor Sorarya Gustave-Warner (Rotary District 7030), Assistant Governor for the South Cluster (Trinidad), Mrs Dinna Rajpaul-Bainney, past presidents, and Rotary Foundation Committee Director Jagdin.
The evening culminated with the official presentation of the Rotaract Charter Certificate, pinning of members, and the signing of the charter document, followed by moments of fellowship and celebration, capturing the unity and shared purpose of the Rotary family.
