A 25-year-old man, Nyrell Hosein, has been charged with the murder of Nicholas David Fields, which occurred on February 24.
According to police reports, Fields, a 22-year-old from Sangre Grande was speaking with another man around 6 pm at his home when a man dressed in blue and wearing a mask approached them. There was a scuffle after the suspect removed a cell phone and some cash from Fields’ pocket, after which three loud explosions were heard and the suspect fled the scene.
Fields was rushed to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he died.
Hosein, also of Sangre Grande, was also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, when he appeared in High Court.
The Sufficiency Hearing date has been set for January 13 2026.
