Sev­en men were ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences, in­clud­ing mar­i­jua­na traf­fick­ing and pos­ses­sion, dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Thurs­day.

A po­lice state­ment said sur­veil­lance was con­duct­ed at a res­i­dence on Flamin­go Av­enue, Lisas Gar­dens, Cou­va, dur­ing which sev­er­al peo­ple were ob­served con­duct­ing trans­ac­tions at the lo­ca­tion. 

A search war­rant was ex­e­cut­ed and mar­i­jua­na was found. Po­lice al­so seized the sum of $5,017.

Four men were ar­rest­ed for traf­fick­ing in mar­i­jua­na.

The po­lice re­port­ed that a search war­rant was ex­e­cut­ed at a lo­ca­tion at  Union Vil­lage, Ch­agua­nas. There, they found and seized sev­er­al quan­ti­ties of mar­i­jua­na. They al­so seized TT$9,410 and US$10.

One per­son was ar­rest­ed for traf­fick­ing in mar­i­jua­na and an­oth­er for pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

A war­rant is be­ing is­sued for the ar­rest of a third sus­pect for traf­fick­ing in mar­i­jua­na.

A to­tal of 1.64 kilo­grams of mar­i­jua­na was seized from both lo­ca­tions.

The ex­er­cise took place be­tween the hours of  2 pm and 7 pm on Thurs­day.

It was su­per­vised by In­sp Alexan­der, Sgts Mod­este and  Badree and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers of the Cou­va Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force Area South, Cou­va War­rants and the Ca­nine Branch.
