The mother of four-year-old Amir Williams, who was wounded during an attack in which his father died, says he is in pain but gradually recovering.
Shaquille Williams, 29, was shot and killed by gunmen outside his Gilkes Trace, La Puerta, Diego Martin home on Tuesday afternoon.
His son Amir was struck by a stray bullet in his left leg during the attack.
Speaking with Guardian Media yesterday, Amir’s mother Shirette Marcano said he was still at the hospital under close observation by doctors but was conscious and in stable condition.
“He is fighting, he’s strong but he’s in a lot of pain.
“The leg is broken but they are going to keep monitoring him because of how young he is,” she said.
Marcano said dealing with her son’s injury was especially difficult, as she also had to grapple with the killing of Williams, her common-law husband.
Police from the Western Division are continuing their enquiries and assisting police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I.
