Licensing Officers and motorists came in for a huge surprise yesterday when they spotted a snake wrapped up inside the chassis for a brand new vehicle.

The slithery surprise all unfolded at the Port-of-Spain Licensing Office.

In a video posted online by Chandra Ramsoondar, scores of licensing workers gathered around a black Tuscon SUV outside.

People were seen video recording the retrieval of the reptile by two zoo officials.

Chandra told Guardian Media, that she went to renew her taxi badge when just before midday, workers reported seeing something drop from the SUV.

On closer inspection, employees observed a snake coiled on the ground.

But Chandra said someone poked the snake and it went up into the vehicle’s chassis near the back wheel.

She said the Emperor Valley Zoo was contacted and it took more than an hour to retrieve the reptile.

The vehicle was brought in by a Massy employee from San Fernando.

It is believed the snake made the trek from South to Port-of-Spain in the vehicle.

Meanwhile Guptee Lutchmedial told us the snake was brought in to the zoo with a slight burn on its tail, which appeared to be from the exhaust.

He said the macajuel is estimated to be approximately 7 feet in length and will be released into the wild today.

And that’s not all, we understand that while the snake was being retrieved, another reptile, an iguana walked up to the crowd to look at what was unfolding.
