Son sent to prison for threatening mother

A Moru­ga man who breached a pro­tec­tion or­der by mak­ing death threats to his moth­er has been jailed for three months.

Dave Kat­wa­roo who was ar­rest­ed at his moth­er’s home plead­ed guilty to the charge in the Princes Town Mag­is­trates Court.

Pros­e­cu­tor Sgt Harold Ish­mael said Kat­wa­roo’s moth­er, age 69, was grant­ed the pro­tec­tion or­der against her son last April for a pe­ri­od of three years.

But, around 5.45 pm on Sat­ur­day, Kat­wa­roo went to his moth­er’s home at In­di­an Walk and be­gan be­hav­ing in a dis­or­der­ly man­ner, threat­ened to kill her and burn down her house. Princes Town po­lice re­spond­ed and spoke to the of­fend­er who replied, “Of­fi­cer, I done know about that I was in court.” He was ar­rest­ed and charged by PC Coop­er.

Se­nior Mag­is­trate Michelle Ma­haraj-Brown or­dered that he serve his time do­ing hard labour.
