A secondary school student was arrested and charged yesterday after a security officer discovered a knife on him as he arrived at a school in Central Trinidad.
Police said two security officers were conducting searches on students before they entered the school compound. Around 8:20 am, one of the officers searched a form three student and found a sharpened curved knife in a black side pouch, along with a black handle.
The student was taken to the principal, and his mother was contacted, as well as the police. He was arrested and taken to the Couva Police Station, then transferred to the Oropouche Juvenile Booking Centre, where he was charged by PC Alibocus for possession of an offensive weapon. He was released on bail in the care of his mother but is expected to appear before the Master tomorrow.
