Thirty-two people were arrested, firearms and ammunition seized, and drugs recovered during a major law enforcement operation codenamed “Summer Slam.”
The coordinated exercise, conducted across several communities, also saw the execution of 14 warrants, 42 stop-and-searches, and the issuing of 14 fixed penalty notices for traffic violations.
According to police, the operation led to arrests in connection with firearm, ammunition, and robbery offences.
These included a suspect held for driving without a driver’s permit and certificate of insurance, possession of three rounds of 9mm ammunition, and robbery with violence.
Another suspect was held for possession of 198 grammes of cannabis and robbery with violence. Two more suspects were arrested in connection with robbery enquiries, while two were held for larceny enquiries.
On drug-related offences, one suspect was arrested for possession of 11 cannabis plants. Two other suspects were held on warrants for possession of cocaine.
Police also held a suspect in relation to a malicious wounding investigation and two suspects for burglary enquiries in St Margaret’s and other areas. Another suspect was arrested on two counts of breaching a protection order.
Twelve people were arrested on affiliation warrants totalling more than $66,000, while eight others were held for enquiries.
The seizures included two homemade shotguns, two 12-gauge cartridges, three 9mm rounds, 198 grammes of cannabis, and 11 cannabis plants.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said the “Summer Slam” operation formed part of its ongoing proactive strategies to combat violent crime, drug trafficking, and public safety breaches.
Investigations are continuing.
