Two women who were sought as suspects in an acid attack have surrendered to police, but have not been charged as of Tuesday morning.
Police said the women, ages 20 and 26-years-old surrendered to Belmont Police on Monday afternoon with their attorney.
The women were identified as suspects in an attack on 21-year-old hairdresser Jessie James.
James, was reportedly contacted by a stranger who asked her to visit her at her home in Belmont for a hairstyling appointment.
However, on reaching Brathwaite Lane, James was confronted by two women who accused her of socialising with men they knew.
One of the women reportedly snatched James’ phone before dousing her with acid, resulting in severe chemical burns.
As of 10 am on Tuesday, both suspects remained in custody and were expected to be interviewed by investigators.
If charged, both women may face charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
