A Tacarigua man has been charged for mur­der fol­low­ing a shoot­ing in Gas­par­il­lo last week Thurs­day that re­sult­ed in the death of Bran­don Mo­hammed.

Je­re­my Am­rit, 25, was ar­rest­ed on Tues­day and charged for the of­fence on Fri­day fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Ms. Joan Hon­ore-Paul. The charge was laid by WPC Ran­some of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion 3. Am­rit is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear at the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court on Mon­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, a 25-year-old Gas­par­il­lo man was ar­gu­ing with a fe­male rel­a­tive in front of his home, when a dark­coloured Sun­ny B-11 ve­hi­cle drove up to where they were stand­ing.

A man known to them, al­leged­ly ex­it­ed from the dri­ver’s side of the ve­hi­cle, pulled out a firearm, made ob­scene re­marks, and fired at the Gas­par­il­lo res­i­dent, who fell to the ground.

He was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.
