A 16-year-old student was among two people killed in a shooting in Brasso early today, which left two others, including another teenager, nursing gunshot wounds.
The deceased have been identified as Ricky Christopher Joseph, 20, a construction worker, and 16-year-old student Darrius Shadrack.
Joseph’s brother, Colly Joseph, also a construction worker, and his friend, 15-year-old student Jerell Ganesh, were injured in the attack.
Police said the four were staying at an unfinished wooden structure at Caparo Valley, Brasso, where the shooting occurred.
Initial reports indicated that around 2 am, they were inside the structure when several gunshots were heard. Ricky Joseph died at the scene, while Shadrack was pronounced dead on arrival at the Chaguanas Health Facility.
The injured victims remain warded in hospital. Police said Ricky Joseph was suspected to be involved in illegal activities, including selling narcotics.
Central Division police and officers from the Region 3 Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
