The Trinidad and Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches has condemned the desecration of the Tabernacle of Prayer Church on Abercromby Street in Port-of-Spain, where the sanctuary was stripped of all its electronic equipment, in addition to food hampers for the less fortunate in the community.

They are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The incident took place last Friday, where CCTV footage captured four men breaking into the church. According to the Senior Pastor Bishop Jankee Raghunanan, one of them entered through the roof and proceeded to open the door from the inside, allowing the others to enter.

They drank communion wine, scattering the bottles on the floor, as well as smearing the chairs with sardines.

"The pain that is being felt by the Bishop and his congregation is a pain that we are all feeling because when one member of the Body of Christ hurt, we hurt," a statement said.
