Three peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and a gen­er­a­tor was re­cov­ered dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment (CID) Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, po­lice said in a state­ment on Fri­day.

The ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed on Thurs­day in the Carlsen Field area, be­tween the hours of 9 am and 6 pm.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, the of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to a scrap deal­er­ship in Carlsen Field af­ter they re­ceived per­ti­nent in­for­ma­tion about the lar­ce­ny of a gen­er­a­tor val­ued at $800,000, which oc­curred on Feb­ru­ary 9, 2021.

When the of­fi­cers searched the premis­es they dis­cov­ered the gen­er­a­tor, which was seized and three per­sons were sub­se­quent­ly ar­rest­ed.

The ex­er­cise was su­per­vised by ACP Win­ston Ma­haraj, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Ramkhelawan, and Su­per­in­ten­dent Pa­ri­man, In­spec­tor Mo­hammed, and was con­duct­ed by Cpl For­ge­nie, Cpl Ram­baran, Cor­po­ral Kennedy, PCs Brown, Jawahir, Sama­roo, O’ Gar­ro, and Dover In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing, as more ar­rest are im­mi­nent.
